Mindful Kindness example

I'm reading Doug Carnine's book "How Love Wins, the Power of Mindful Kindness" and decided to give it a try with my spouse. We were in a store shopping and as she was filling up the cart I was going to make the usual comment about her buying so much stuff. That's when i remembered to try to be kind instead and I commented how thoughtful she was in buying something for our son. She didn't respond. We finished our grocery shopping.
The next day she called me and said she noticed I'm being nice to her and that she was on her way home early to make dinner. Wow, was that fast! One act of kindness - one response. That's when it took off for me. This is something that can help me in my life in a big way. The stories are piling up and it has only been a couple of months.
I wouldn't say it's addicting. I would say it's a nice improvement in my life that bounces back every single time in some positive way. I get this warm feeling, kind of like warm bath water, but it's inside and I become alert and responsive to the world around me. At least for me, the time is right to be exploring this.
