Mindfulness and illness

Hey everyone!
I just caught flew and I find it very hard to keep it up with my formal and informal meditation practise.
During breathing meditation (and also often in body scan) I find it almost impossible to focus on the object. My mind is suck very hard into thinking making detachment very difficult.
Do you think that it is wiser to take a break of meditation for the time I am sick, as it feels more of a struggle and very energy draining than usually?
Also I've read online that mindfulness is a good way to come to terms with your illness, freeing energy which may reinforce the healing process.
I'd like to tap into this, any suggestions?
Thank you!:)
