Cool experience: anxiety and mindfulness

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Just thought I'd share a cool experience I had recently regarding anxiety and mindfulness, b/c I noticed a lot of posts on this site regarding these two and a lot of people dealing with anxiety. Just in case this is helpful to anyone!

I had a job interview that I was pretty nervous about and my counselor suggested that I drive there 30 minutes early, find a quiet place to park and meditate for 10-15 minutes before going in. So I was pretty amped but I did this, and as I was meditating and focusing on my breath, I suddenly had a thought about the interview and I felt this wave of anxiety. I really explored what that felt like in my body - it was a tingling sensation along with a warm, buzzing kind of feeling all through my chest. As I allowed myself to feel that feeling, I realized it was not actually a "bad" feeling at all and in some strange way it actually became almost pleasant. I was still nervous, but that warm electric feeling in my chest lost its power and it was just a warm electric feeling... with no attached sense of fear or doom.

I went into the interview and I totally rocked it. I felt really calm and confident and was able to remind myself a couple of times that my anxious feeling couldn't hurt me. I got the job too :)
