So this week is about taking breaks through the day. This is something I find very important in my daily practice, even just 30 seconds bringing myself back to the present moment can be very restorative (that is a word yeah?) Anyone else taking breaks mindfully this week?

I'm heading off across the big pond to consort with crazed apes, mindfulness to the fore.

You've got to explain - I can't get the picture of you sitting in a circle of meditating monkeys in a jungle clearing out of my head!

Yes, I've been taking breaks...
In some respects, I think I'm Ok at this as I generally take time to read in the morning before getting out of bed, I take time for at least 5-10 mins of meditation first thing, if commuting by train I often 'chill out' rather than working. I just about manage to keep up with a journal (and these postings) for JOT, I enjoy my coffee breaks and always stop for lunch. I also take time to chat to colleagues and am pretty good at ensuring work does not cme first (I don't work as many hours as my younger colleagues who are still trying to climb a ladder). I also enjoy going for a walk or a cycle or stopping to admire nature.
On the other side of the coin, I still find it hard to resist checking emails frequently and can have difficulty cncentrating or getting motivated to do something. So, in some respects, maybe I take too many breaks as they are a great excuse for putting off doing something!
The 3 minute meditation is, of course, an excellent way of taking a short break.

Hi Steve,
To clarify…I'm on Planet Of The Apes duty this week.
So help me God.

Bring me back a banana please Jon
I'm like you Steve and find the 3 minute breathing space helpful too. Checking e-mails in my biggest battle though and one I do need to tackle. When I am online less I do feel better in myself but I keep getting sucked in anyway
