Mindfulness & Wellness

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Just wanted to share :)
I was at hospital today and it's been decided the time has come to get a wheelchair. I was surprised but I'm OK with that. As I chatted to the nurse coordinating this part of my care she started talking about mindfulness. They run a group as part of the pain management and my physio is also very big on mindfulness too. I possibly won't do the group as they know I already practice mindfulness but if the opportunity arises it would be a good chance to practice beginners mind.

It was just so lovely to hear mindfulness put forward as part of my treatment plan alongside things like pain relief patches and wheelchairs :D She was also surprised at my positivity in dealing with constant pain and challenges and I explained how much of an impact mindfulness had on my rehab and continues too. It just made me smile. I'm sharing it here in the hope that anyone beginning their journey from a similar place will find it useful.
“Being mindful means that we take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.”

Mindfulness truly is a wonderful thing; I am desperately in love with it.
My body is also fundamentally broken, yet mindfulness means that I can still live a fulfilling and happy life.
