Walking the dog mindfully ???

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Agreed. Watching the moon and the beautiful sky is mindfulness. Your attention cannot be divided. Whether you are watching the dog or watching the moon, you are walking the dog mindfully.

YES ! thats right. I am never on auto-pilot walking the dog these days as I appreciate nature and my surroundings so much. I just decided it was time to notice the dog too! ;)

Cool - I'm glad that other dog-walkers here have found some mindfulness moments in their dog walks!

I've realised that the mindfulness approach I need to use is the "turning towards difficulties" meditation.

Our dog being a former stray, the walks just ARE too difficult, challenging, stressful, intense... There's truly no time or attention that I can divert for focussing on other stuff, like noticing nature, the weather, my sensations, etc...

This is basically a diagram of our walks... Chaos...

And I need to be mindful that our dog *is* a stray, and that for a stray, he's doing great...
I've been practising formal meditation for 15 years.

Not a fan of mindfulness being taken tooo seriously.
