Itching
thanks Jon, Yes feeling better now. I like your quote about unfrying an egg lol. Yes, mindfulness is a way of life now. Its helping me so much, I don't shout much these days, and when I got into an arguement with my daughter last week and (for noce) it did get heated,, well my own voice shouting sounded alien to me!) at least I was mindful that I was getting angry! The emotions are still going to be there, we are only human, but mindfulness helps us deal with our feelings and thoughts better. I dont expect miracles but it is helping me and I am feeling the benefits slowly and surely. I would come on here and write more often bit from my smart phone its hard to write and the autocorrector is soo annoying it always picks the wrong word and a couple of sentences ends up taking ages to write! Am on a public computer at the moment. I do enjoy reading all the posts (that I can do off my phone anyway thanks guys and have a great mindful week!

Always a pleasure to read your posts, Jackie.
Mindfulness is often put to the test when one is a parent!
Jon Kabat-Zinn and his wife Myla have written a book specifically about mindful parenting. I thought I'd mention it.

Have a great week.

Hi Jon and Fiona! Thanks for that Jon. Will definitely have a look at that book.! Peace has been restored with the daughter I left her alone for a few days and now all is well. Oh by the way I was at school of dentistry and the consultant said I have some gum disease but it is treatable so I may hang on to my teeth a few years yet. Hope so! Your story was inspiring I don't think I would manage as well even being mindful.

I have been practicing mindful exercises in week 3 of the 8 week programme of Danny Penmans book and am enjoying it a lot. In the track 4 of the Cd mention is made to sitting with an itch or discomfort and whether or not to shift position mindfully or scratch or try to just be mindful of it and I swear, it must be the mind but when I heard those words I felt an awful itch in my foot and resisted to the end and had a good scratch after the meditation , it was sooo real! The second day it happened again as I listened to the tape but today I said to myself this is psychological and got through the meditation without an itch! Just shows you how the mind works!
