Eckhart Tolle has a nice approach to this: feel free to have a goal, but make each step your primary focus, so that it doesn't really matter whether you arrive or not, as you're always here, now.
There is a difference between having a goal and being attached to the idea of reaching it. If you have the goal without the attachment, you can then focus on the process without worrying about the outcome.
Good luck on the journey!

I really like that way of putting it.
I know that Eckhart Tolle seems to have some detractors, but he defintely speaks some wise words.

Tolle seems to take a bashing from some people simply because he's massively successful and for promoting himself on Oprah. I've spoken to quite a few people who have found his books to be life-changing.

But what would be the purpose of having a goal if you dont care if you achieve it or not?
I'll be honest I do want to achieve the goals I set.

We might need to define "goals" a little clearer here…
All the time I meet people who seem goal-driven in every aspect of their lives: career, relationships, the body, the mind…they seem to be creating new goals all the time. When they arrive at one, they create another. They're so driven it seems that they never take a pause to appreciate and enjoy what they have. They seem to take little pleasure in actually getting to where they want to be. It's never about the journey, it always seems to be about the destination.
Being persistently attached to goals causes so much misery in this world.
