I'm Back

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

Hi Everyone I am back. I have decided I am truly ready to tackle mindfulness now and I have been using my break away to tackle my thoughts and lots of different techniques.

How has everyone been?

Any tips for re-starting?

Welcome back , it is lovely to 'see' you again :)
I hope it isn't trite to say I restart every time I become aware I have stopped pay attention. No pressure as Gareth often says.
“Being mindful means that we take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.”
Mark Williams

My tip is, along the lines of Fee, do only what you feel like doing - never make it a chore.
"Compassion – particularly for yourself – is of overwhelming importance." - Mark Williams, Mindfulness (2011), p117.
"...allow yourself to smile inwardly." - Jon Kabat-Zinn, Full Catastrophe Living (2005), p436.

Welcome back, Jenna.
No better place to start or restart than the 8-week course. Elsewhere on the forum, there's a week by week commentary on the Mark Williams/Danny Penman course which should prove helpful.
Wishing you well, Jon

Ola! Pick up where you left off...then any questions, just ask here!

Other than that, don't think that you ever stopped. Whatever break you had was all a part of your practice...the learning curve!

I'm only on week 3 Jenna, I do think following the 8 week book course is best!

Good luck, I think I'm starting to get a taste of the benefits of mindfulness, still very early days, but its definitely there :)
