Meditating outside...?

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

OK, weather was really sunny here today and I was sitting out in the garden this afternoon. I decided to give one of my meditation/mindfulness audio tracks a try.

I was sitting quite comfortably, there was a bit of wind, the trees were blowing around a bit and I could hear the traffic from the main road, but I felt I really got into it. Again my mind wandered a bit and I alternated between having my eyes open and closed, but I felt at times I was able to suspend all thoughts, just relax and take in the present moment.

That sounds lovely :-)

I have tried a few times, especially when trying a sound based meditation.
I find just being for even a few moments outside very grounding.

I think the fresh air, gentle breeze, warm sunshine and the fact I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt made it much more relaxing and enjoyable. :)

Hi, i am pretty new to meditating, its helped me cope with stress, and i tried meditating while walking to work today for first time. Mind wandered a bit but i kept going back to the breaths. As i walk Lot will keep practicing!

Yes, it's brilliant...always makes me feel more at one with nature. Check this video out...I want to find more spots away from humans where I can do this :)

I usually listen to my mp3 while walking to work, (takes me 30 minutes. Yesterday i decided why not try practising mindfulness? I have been finding it hard to find the time at home so gave it à go yesterday and it worked well. Today was even better and i think this Is going to work well for me. Yesterday was à cool , dry Morning and i felt the crisp autumn leaves as i walked, today was drizzly and the contrast, soggy leaves underfoot but not unpleasant, being mindful one Is much more aware of everything around them, smells, Sounds, just observing.....
