question for Jon, or anyone else

Post here if you are just starting out with your mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a really difficult concept to get your head around at first, and it might be that you would benefit from some help from others.

I wanted to ask you a question, or anyone else that wants to reply. I have my hobbies, such as guitar, tai chi, and qigong. sometimes when I am involved in these therapies I call them, I lose track of time, and it seems that what I am doing is the only thing that is present in the world. nothing else matters or enters my mind for an hour or maybe even longer, would this be considered a state of mindfulness, being totally absorbed in what you are doing in the present? and when and if I get thoughts about other things, I tell myself that it is a thought, just observe it and let it go. and I try to get back to the present activity.
