Hi, this is a first for me so I hope I am opening up a topic that some can give me insight to. I am just beginning to learn to meditate. My problems are quieting my mind. I am mentally Ill and suffer from PTSD as well as many other illnesses. Living mindfully is a choice I am making to live a better life. As well as reduce the use of medications. My doctor is all for it. My questions are for anyone. Can you give me some specific ways to quiet my mind to meditate? Help....lost....to many distractions I feel I am not doing this right.

Thanks

Hi Nenejax,
Welcome to Everyday Mindfulness.
It helps if you have some kind of structure to your practice, especially in the early days when you are learning to ground yourself in mindfulness.
If no teachers are available in your area, you might want to check out a book that delivers the 8-week mindfulness course. The one I usually recommend is Finding Peace In A Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman.
Meanwhile, feel free to ask any questions here on the forum.
All good things,
Jon

Welcome :)

The book that JonW mentions is good, I have benefited by reading it.

Best wishes.
