Mindful Walk

Today I "escaped" my flat to enjoy the last sunshine of the day. I often do this, going to the forest, listening to the birds and try to pay attention to everything what is going on around me. Often enough my mind tries to be somewhere else but the forest, but carefully I try to redirect my attention to my surroundings. As for today, I had a rest on a bench, closed my eyes and did the Sound and Thoughts meditation, hearing some planes, a motorcyclist and the many animals in the forest. When I opened my eyes, I saw a little bird "dancing" on the grass, presumably searching for "dinner". Funnily enough, I noticed a free-running chicken as well on the cyclist track, trying to hide itself from me. In this moment, I was really grateful to notice these things happening in front of me! And now I try to do the same with the Snooker now; quite a good sport to practice mindfulness :)

Good night,

Fabian

Lovely.
My nan used to say the same about snooker. I never got into the sport but I was once head-butted by Alex "Hurricane" Higgins in a Dublin bar.

fabiG, that sounds a nice experience. I also had a mindfully relaxing time yesterday (I was struggling with fatigue so needed to rest). I sat on a comfortable chair and simply looked out the window. The sky was that blue that reminds you of the sea, the bushes were a lush and vivid green and looked like they were in technicolour. The birds seems to slow (and almost grow larger and stop) as they flew overhead. :D

Ouch Jon re: your special memory of Alex Higgins. :o

Sounds great! It is just so nice to go out especially if you're drained a bit, go out and/or do something else. And this is certainly one of the biggest benefits that mindfulness has made possible for me, to actually realize how you're behaving and how to respond to this. I had this morning a similar example when I stressed to get home from uni to see the O'Sullivan match. In between I had to print some pages and buy something, and I really stressed myself to get back asap...then I realized how bad it actually was for me, getting lost completely but then I changed my approach getting more focused on the present. Just small things but they are really powerful in the daily routine.

Well, if there would be one snooker player headbutting someone else, it was always to be the Hurricane. He really was a maverick!

It is definitely nice to be out, yes. That's a great example of being aware and bringing yourself back to the present moment. It's surprising what a big difference small changes can make.

Have a good day :)

Hi fabiG,
Great experience. I feel this kind of experience, when I go for morning walk. A morning walk is a good way to relax your body and mind.
Thanks!!
