My personal mindfulness story

Meditation and mindfulness have been a part of my life since I was a young teenager, but it wasn't until just about 3 years ago that I started to make it a part of my daily life. You see 3 years ago anxiety and depression came knocking at my door with no notice. Actually I had years of signs and notices but you tend to not notice all the factors that eventually bring you down into despair. You only see all the signs and warnings after it's too late.

My anxiety has gotten much better with daily meditation and daily mindfulness practice, but I still have a little ways to go to my ideal self of calm and living moment by moment. Mindfulness makes me think of where I was when I was a child when living moment to moment was actually quite natural. I want that natural mindfulness again.

I meditate 30 to 60 minutes every day now for the past couple of years. I want to work into my schedule 30 to 60 minutes in the evening as well, but I find that difficult because sleepiness takes over.

My anxiety is not as bad as it use to be, but I realize now how bad it really was. With meditation and mindfulness I'm more aware of my anxiety. I notice that I'm actually anxious about the next moment after the next moment even though I have no data to support my reason for being anxious. Getting stuck in the thought streams about the feelings from those anxious feelings is where I often end up.

My favorite meditation is "loving kindness" meditations. They seem to really help with the negativity that comes with anxieties dark streams of thought. When anxiety runs you so low that you start to feel depressed and disconnected from your feelings these types of meditations help you reconnect.

Anyways, I'm new here and look forward to contributing whenever I can. Thanks for approving me. :)

My writing isn't the greatest. But writing a blog I'd really love to do because I love sharing mindfulness with other's.
