Hi,

I will keep this as quick and simple as possible. I suffer from anxiety and it led me to mindfullness and I have been practicing mindfulness for over a year with a teacher. I've come to a point in my journey where I can tune into my thoughts and hear my ego saying demanding and critical things/thoughts which make my body react in a anxious way. This is constant! It never goes away. I witness this with acceptance but it has been months now and nothing is changing. My teacher has told me recently every time I get lost in thought to come back to my body (sensations). I done this over a few days and felt a strong feeling of anxiety in my stomach which was very uncomfortable but accepted and observed. I then started to ground (feel my feet on the floor or the chair supporting me) for no apparent reason it just felt right to do this instead of just feeling my body. When I do this I felt more in the present but I felt sadness come through that was deep but again accepted and obsessed. But very sad.

My teacher is great but sometimes my ego is probably searching for reassurance from someone who as actually gone through this too.

My question is has anyone ever experienced this before?
Is it bad to ground all the time rather than come back to my body?
My teacher has said that in order to chnage the negative thought process/ego I need to show it compassion but what is meant by that?

This is for more experienced mindfulness as I have asked the question to people before and they have said try a body scan or use your breath. This is obvious but my journey runs deeper than this due to my previous conditioning.

Thanks

Welcome to the site YAV,
I agree that you probably shouldn't be grounding all the time. It is a short term solution. It's a bit of an escape, really. My advice, as I often say, ground first for a while, once you've calmed the mind a bit, try to explore.
