Thanks for replying Jon
I don't think I made a connection between exploring the subconscious & mindfulness I merely stated that in my opinion it's not a bad thing from time to time. I'm sorry if you read it in any other way!
When I first started practicing meditation I would often enter the dream state to varying degrees, I put it down to lack of awareness & inexperience. Now when it happens (rarely) I generally just roll with it & enjoy the ride, in a non-judgemental way of course
Question: Using background sounds for meditation

Hi UniversalCitizen,
Apologies for the misunderstanding.
My own view is that meditation throws up a lot of different experiences but it's important to remember that we meditate to fall awake. We are practicing how to be present. If we drift off into dreamlike states occasionally, that's fine. We do need to be non-judgmental. Being kind to ourselves is the important thing. But it also helps to form the intention to be awake to our present moment experience during meditation. If we fail at that from time to time, no problem. There's always tomorrow. And this isn't about striving for perfection in any way.
All best wishes,
Jon
