Have you been watching the videos from the Wisdom 2.0 Conference this past week?:

Wisdom 2.0 Conference - Living with awareness, wisdom, and compassion

Jon Kabat-Zinn is about half way down the page talking with Arianna Huffington. A really great video - 30 mins long. They compare this mindfulness movement to a Renaissance - as in the cultural movement that spanned the period roughly from the 14th to the 17th century. Pretty exciting stuff.

JKZ mentions his recent work in China quite a bit - a friend here in Beijing went on his MBSR course a few months back and met him there. From what he says I think you will understand why I am living here and want to carry what is left of their refined mindfulness practices back to the UK.
"Compassion – particularly for yourself – is of overwhelming importance." - Mark Williams, Mindfulness (2011), p117.
"...allow yourself to smile inwardly." - Jon Kabat-Zinn, Full Catastrophe Living (2005), p436.

I really enjoyed this video. I personally related to the point the presenter made about JKZ that when we are young we are often curious about the 'big questions' but that when we get a little older, maybe after university and/or when we start work, that we lose sight of that and focus on a very 'functional' make money, buy pleasure way of living our lives.

I was also really glad to hear South Korea brought up. My wife is South Korean and I would dearly love to see the modern mindfulness movement take root there.
