Hi.

East Midlands Happiness is a regional group supporting the action for Happiness movement for positive social change.

We are a not-for-profit action group bringing together people to promote actions for sustainable wellbeing. One such action is mindfulness of which I am a practitioner.

We launched on March 20th this year, the first UN international Day of Happiness and are holding a happiness festival in Nottingham to encourage others to take positive actions within their own lives and communities.

Mini Happy Fest! Nottingham is on June 1st and features the acclaimed HAPPY movie, we also have workshops introducing mindfulness and laughing yoga and guest speakers including Action for Happiness.

To find out more about East Midlands Happiness or Mini Happy Fest! Nottingham please visit www.minihappyfest.co.uk or follow us on twitter @EMHappiness and @MiniHappyFest

Hello and what Jon said :)
“Being mindful means that we take in the present moment as it is rather than as we would like it to be.”

I follow Action For Happiness on Twitter, I am a massive fan of the things that they Tweet.

It seems that all of our aims are extremely similar, so it's definitely beneficial for us all to stay in contact, there will be many ways that we can work together. Is AFH an individual or a group? Be sure to mention us if you get to speak to them.

Thank you so much for coming to the forum, please stick around and join in the mindfulness discussions. I would have loved to drive down and come to your festival, but I am off to Twycross zoo with the family.

Hi Thanks all for the welcome.

AfH is a group, London based but encouraging local groups to be formed around the country.

I'm organising a wellbeing event (Mini Happy Fest!) in Nottingham next weekend (June 1st) on behalf of East Midlands Happiness which includes a 45 minute introduction to mindfulness workshop. I have completed the 8 week programme as a student and the workshop at the event was due to be run by my teacher. Unfortunately due to a bereavement in the family they have just pulled out and I need to find another teacher for the session.

There will be around 25/30 people in the session and it could be a good opportunity to promote the programmes that you run. I was wondering if anyone in your community would be interested in doing this?

The session is scheduled for 1.30.

If anyone is interested on wants more info, please email me james@thebrightstuff.co.uk

Many thanks,

James Moore

Hi James,

I'm very interested to hear about your festival; it sounds great. I am not so far away in Barnsley, so it's not inconceivable that I could come down and meet you. I just need to check with the wife that I'm not otherwise committed, busy family life and all. I am not a mindfulness teacher however; I'm just an enthusiastic amateur that taught himself after reading Jon Kabat-Zinn for the first time. I'm not sure how we can help you in that regard; we are on the lookout for some teachers ourselves, to help with moderation in the forum.

It would be good to tell the 25/30 people about Everyday Mindfulness. Mindfulness is my favourite topic of discussion these days.
