Five year old with monkey mind

Just asked my son of 5, who seemed to be watching with great intrest how his mother was painting the lips of his sister for kings day, what he was thinking about. He immediately answered that he was thinking about his Lego! It surprised me. I really thought he was mindful of/in that moment.

Yes, which makes one wonder. It's often said that our natural state is one of mindfulness. But that probably all depends on our definition of natural in this context. One could just as easily argue that it is natural to become less mindful.

Modern life makes mindfulness very difficult to sustain. We're a species biologically designed for the Paleolithic era.
