The discipline of morning meditation

I find, personally that morning meditation is a great way to start the day. Does anybody else agree? The mind is clear, focused, even after a poor nights sleep.
Now, having the discipline to meditate every morning is a different matter, when your mind is geared towards putting the kettle on.
Does anybody here practice in a morning.

I work from home so usually meditate early afternoon, just after lunch (usually a bowl of home-made soup or a cheese & Branston pickle sandwich).
My waking routine is: wake up, make a cup of tea, walk Banjo The Spaniel along the beach. I usually stop at the lagoon and watch the lone swan which is a meditation in itself. Unless Banjo gets too close to the swan when all hell is let loose. Banjo (aged 11) moves swifter than Usain Bolt when a swan is in hot pursuit.
The moral of this story is: don't mess with swans.

i do it early in the morning before breakfast and before doing my daily task.

What sort of meditation, and how long Gareth?

I've been meaning to ask this for several weeks, as I spend almost an hour in bed 'relaxing' by browsing the news and 9Gag. I'm hardly enjoying that anymore and I wouldn't mind spending an extra (half an) hour a day meditating.
Like guitar5 said, it seems a good way to begin the day. Until now I only start meditating in the evening.

Early morning for me. first yoga then meditation.
I usually do practice at night as well but much prefer the morning,more so now that the sun is coming up and the birds are singing as i practice :D

As soon as the alarm goes off, I sit up and follow my breath for half an hour. Just really trying to follow what's going on inside. Some times I put my headphones on and listen to some music. Then I get up and start the day.

I like meditating in the morning but for the opposite reason to yours, Guitar5. I get up grumpy and with my mind full of tasks, resentments, discomfort. I make my coffee and drink it and then meditate. It helps me let go of all that stuff instead of carrying it into the day. Often my children don't agree with this plan of action though so I don't get to do it every day! I have a back up because a bit later on when breakfast has been issued I bust out some yoga moves for five or ten minutes while fending off mashed banana attacks and wiping noses. So some equilibrium gets reached somehow!

Don't you get cold? I usually run towards a warm shower in the morning.

I'm extremelly new to mindfulness, but I also settled to do my meditation for 45 minutes after waking up. Then I get ready for work. I do a 10 minutes breathing meditation at lunch in the middle of the day and do a Relaxation session on the evening.
