My dad used to do research with forest monks in Sri Lanka, and he said he would sometimes meet some Westerners who were a bit tweaked from the isolation of it all. I think this supports Melli's idea. Also, I think you can go through periods of rough spots where you might have a lot of negative energ...

Also it is where I hold emotions in compassion or speak to them. I imagine myself literally hugging the physical sensation of emotion, or I will gently have an internal conversation with it to let it know I have understood and appreciate its 'message'. Yes I experience all my emotions through my body. That is where I have best understood what is happening. I heard it first from Gil Fronsdal and it has been an invaluable and intriguing tool.

Yes I used to suffer from obsessive anxieties. It's a tricky one, you think "I don't care about thinking about this" but then you sit and watch it still, to see if you do care. Then you notice you might care and think "but I thought I didn't care, I hope I don't get obsessed with this...

Agreed. Particularly as his knees are so high above his hips. Looks painful to me!
