Re: Letting go?

Hi Jon, thanks for your reply. Well, I told the head of department in a friendly yet quite firm way that I'm more than prepared to offer support and help out but that I don't want to be taken for granted. That's how I felt last week. I also suggested that her staff take a new course on how to deal w...

Letting go?

Hi all I've been meditating on and off for a bit more than a year now, but got quite serious again over the last 3 months and feeling very happy about it. Still, I realise it's babysteps. I always look forward to my daily practice though, that's not the problem. Yesterday the meditation was about le...

Mindfulness throughout the day

A while ago a guided meditation suggested to do a mindful exercise throughout the day: trying to notice every time you get up and/or sit down. I thought okay, let's do that. When I came home from work in the evening I realised that I hadn't noticed it once! And it had been a day with an unusual lot ...

Re: Problems with visualisation

Why is it that you are persisting with the visualisations, which you are clearly finding difficult? There are many different ways to meditate; why don't you do some experimentation? Hi Gareth, thanks for replying. It's not so much that I'm persisting really. It's more that I know that I am able to ...

Re: Problems with visualisation

Some people just cannot visualize at all. It's called Aphantasia. I'm not saying that you can't, but keep that in mind. Everybody is different. Hi Peter, thanks for your reply. But I'm pretty sure that that is not the case. I know I can visualise other things. In mindfulness we try to be with what ...

Problems with visualisation

Hi all I'm doing this series in which I should visualise my body being filled with sunlight. The guy guiding the meditation stresses on the fact that visualising can be difficult in the beginning, and that I should mainly focus on the feeling the visualisation intends to give (warmth, relaxation). S...

Re: The body scan

I also have a general question which is - When doing the body scan do most people visualize the part of the body which is being "brought to the centre" of awareness? Jon This post is a couple of months old but I'll put my 2 cents anyway. I'm rather new to meditating, started in March of t...
