Re: Focus on breath or thoughts?
I like to focus on thoughts quite a bit and their reaction in the body. I used to have a lot of issues with generalised anxiety and I feel that focusing on thoughts is a very good method of keeping certain thoughts I still have, in context - sometimes, if I`m in the right mood, I try to intensify th...

Re: Mindfulness of anxiety and OCD impulses - how?
"I think it will be very hard initially because both OCD and worry impulses are massively strong as there's the feeling that things are wrong and when the 2 conditions of GAD & OCD collide and overlap, the 'wrongness' feels as though it is very real and very present." Could you try pra...

Re: The body scan
"I must admit I am not a fan of it. I find the 'breathe into x part of the body"
Would I be right in saying that this would be an important part of the body scan when dealing with chronic pain?
Personally I enjoy this bit especially when breathing into the legs or head.

Re: The present moment
Yes japa.guru, have been away from the forum for a while but in that time I have been able to greatly increase the amount of time during the day that I remain in awareness and I still practice sitting of course. I found that even when I was sitting for quite long practices it still didn't bring awar...

Re: What changes have happened for you?
The thing about sleep Happyogababe is that I can still struggle to get off to sleep but now I have an alternative to getting all restless and wound up. I used to dread the evening at one time but now the pressure is off, and of course that is vital in getting a good night sleep. btw, playing shopkee...

Re: What changes have happened for you?
The main changes for me has been greatly improved sleep, and a complete overhaul in my thought process, for example I can let things be now rather than worry too much and I can let go of the past. Being with difficult thoughts is so much easier and I now realise that thoughts are not facts which is ...

Re: The present moment
Thanks Matt, do you have any thoughts or knowledge around the mechanism behind the brain measurements the article mentions? What particular area of the brain etc.
Its interesting and encouraging that one 18 minute practice can have an instant effect on the brain.

Re: Living mindfully
Think I mentioned on another thread about my spine chilling encounter with a wood pigeon in the local woods when it was getting dark.
Don't you get a bit spooked at night sleeping in the woods Jon?
