Re: Question regarding noticing

My view is that you don't need to stop using the breath as an anchor; but you might consider using it as a rudder or keel. In other words, you can return to the breath when the seas are getting too rough or the currents seem dangerous (beyond your current capacity to navigate safely). I like this! ...

Re: just to check if i'm on track

I tend to feel that i need to cry whenever i focus fully on the anxiety; it seems as though the anxiety makes me sad or there is sadness 'behind' the anxiety. I'm not sure if i should then just cry, or notice the urge to want to cry? Hi Anna, I get exactly this! When I feel anxious and really let m...

Re: New to this, and maybe need some reassurance. :)

Thank you Peter.

I think it is only running around my mind because I am tired.
The dream made it more difficult to sleep, and I was woken early to get my daughter (who has a broken ankle) out of her bunk bed for a toilet trip!

I will try to look at it just like my negative thoughts. :)

Re: New to this, and maybe need some reassurance. :)

Does anybody find that meditation has increased the number of dreams they have, or made them more vivid, or more memorable? Obviously due to the situation with my nephew I am worried for my family, mostly my sister as she is dealing with it directly. I had a really vivid dream last night which has s...

Re: New to this, and maybe need some reassurance. :)

Thank you for the insight Peter. I think toughen up was poor choice of wording. I have always fought emotion, and this is where I have been going wrong. I'm hoping I can learn to be more accepting of my emotions, and not let them rule me so much. If I can start to recognise my emotions and experienc...

Re: New to this, and maybe need some reassurance. :)

Thank you both for your replies, they are very helpful. I thought that I shouldn't be concerned with how I felt each time, I think I just got caught up in it a bit because of how my mood has been recently. I am using it to help with my anxiety and to toughen myself up against future bad news, but I ...

New to this, and maybe need some reassurance. :)

Hi all, my name is Lee and I have started some mindfulness practices to help me deal with stress, negative feelings, and anxiety due to some disturbing news I got at the start of the month. To cut a long story short, my almost 2 year old nephew was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the start ...
