Compassion meditation might be superbly suited for your need. Also called loving kindness or metta meditation in more Buddhist surroundings. I do it quite a lot and it is very powerful though you need to do it consistently.

Good for you!! Ive had short bouts of this phenomena. Its wonderful! Im afraid for me they didnt last so long, at most 2-3h. This is Great progress for you!! Keep on meditating!

If you're not satisfied with a situation: change what you can and accept what you can't change. And in this particular dilemma there's loads of solutions!
