Tips
Could you post any tips. What little tricks or techniques have you found most effective? A couple for me: - I visualise my ego/ thinking self as a little knot of tension just behind my eyes. As I relax my forehead and stop squinting (which I do when I'm tense- i.e all the time! lol), I imagine my th...

Observing thoughts
I am a total convert to mindfulness and meditation and want to use them to help me deal with anxiety and depression. But, though they are already helping me, I have two problems: 1) Due to my agitated, anxious state, I find it difficult to sit still in a meditative pose for more than a minute or so....

Re: Hello
Hi all, great thread, and great to read the supportive and helpful comments. Whereabouts do you live Moksha76? Someone on here will probably be able to recommend a teacher near you. I would echo Jon's words about checking in with your GP if you need. I haven't read Mark Williams' work but am a big ...

Re: Mindfulness and the body
traditionally, one starts with mindfulness of the body before 'graduating' to mindfulness of thoughts, emotions, moods, mental states and so on. Hmm, that's interesting Matt. Isn't there also a connection to martial arts? I believe karate was traditionally associated with zen, or am I mistaken? I d...

Mindfulness and the body
Can mindfulness be applied to the material body as well as the mind? In meditation you are taught to observe the noisy, hectic mind, to 'step back' from it and watch it twisting and turning. But can you do the same with the body? A week ago I was stuck in traffic and so decided to sort of 'glide' th...

Re: Hello
" Peanut "]Hi Moshka76, . The most beautiful thing about mindfulness is that it doesn't tell you to change your thoughts to positive, or that you will reach this zenith it simply tells you to compassionately be aware of whatever it is that you are feeling or thinking and instead of emotio...

Hello
Hi, I am a male in my late 30s and have been interested in altered states for years. I have experimented with meditation before, but never stuck at it for more than a few days. However, I now wish to devote myself seriously in order to overcome quite bad mental illness. All my life I have suffered w...
