I thought it might be helpful to the OP to mention something that is not mindfulness but something else that might be useful. Also, knowing what is not mindfulness might help with definition.
But I note the warning, and will endeavour to remember it in any future posts.

Re: Affirmations and Striving?
I suppose an affirmation could be used as a mantra, but then a simpler and more meaningless mantra would likely serve the purpose better. Using a self-hypnosis CD to induce a relaxed state, then reciting the affirmation might be more effective. Being more about using power of suggestion than mindful...

Re: Mindfulness intensifies my negative emotions?
Sounds like a confusion between introspection and meditation to me, which some professional writers do seem to facilitate. I suggest sticking with single focal point meditation and allowing arising thoughts to pass through without engagement. Mindfulness can be helpful to many causes, but I think th...

Re: Mindfulness with Anxiety Feelings
I think what you describe is insight into your own process. Which could be confusing, even worrying, but I would encourage you not to dwell on it, just see it as part of making progress and try to avoid analysing it after your mindfulness session. Anxiety has been described as arising through trying...

Re: Afraid I'm losing my mojo

Lying flat, and starting with your feet (one foot at a time) tighten your toes, sense the tension for 3 seconds, then relax the muscles involved. Work y...

Re: Awareness of thoughts?
Hi My take on mindfulness is that it is about being in 'process', but without processing. That is, to observe your personal process to see what thoughts come up, but to avoid processing such thoughts - which can be hard to do because our natural response is usually to develop and process thoughts fu...

Re: Affirmations and Striving?
Hello star I am new to this board, and I don't know what the official line would be on: "striving", but striving sounds like hard work to me! As I understand mindfulness, it's not meant to be hard work, i.e. more about 'being' than thinking about where you 'should' be, or even want to be. ...
