Re: Some Advice Please

Hi Peanut, I can totally relate to your situation. I found the early days of mindfulness so difficult. I would constantly judge my meditation/mindfulness ability. This may not be a very exciting answer to your question but... keep practising. If 10-20mins is a struggle, drop it down to 5mins. Try so...

Re: Mindfulness and changing thought processes

Interesting post. It reminds me of how much I over-thought my mindfulness practice. Being a "thinker" I found that I was judging, or analysing my thoughts. My practice of mindfulness became a practice of being present with judgement. If that makes sense? I tried to change that by noticing ...

Re: Learning from Mindfulness

I agree with Jon. Striving for results can affect the real benefits of meditation/mindfulness. For me, the real benefits of mindfulness come from the small moments in which I realise I am present. Those spaces during the day in which I find myself not searching for a future plan, or pining for a pas...

Re: No longer fearing happiness

It's wonderful to be able to appreciate the way our minds work to protect us, even though the methods may not actually serve us.

Insight into our own saboteurs is power in itself.

Re: How to become less reactive using mindfulness

I found that after some time practising mindfulness, I naturally became less reactive. It gave me space from my thoughts. I found I became more likely to consider options rather than choose my default reaction which was to become angry. I'm still not perfect, but I do know that on the days when I ma...

Re: Affecting the breath without intending to

I found when I first began breathing meditation, that I would try to take long, deep, exaggerated breaths. The result being that I spent the whole of my meditation feeling exhausted, and stressed. Plus, the added focus on, what was for me, unnatural breathing, increased my anxiety. With patience, an...

Re: Mindfulness with Anxiety Feelings

I think a useful tip is to observe your thoughts as you practice, with a gentle curiosity. And then bring yourself gently back to your practice. Treat yourself with kindness, as you would with a friend if they were telling you their thoughts. Patience, kindness, and curiosity.

Re: Afraid I'm losing my mojo

Hi Dave, I think it's normal to question our practice of meditation, or any skill actually. Especially if it doesn't feel as though we are improving, or achieving the results we hoped for. Hang in there though, maybe tweak your practices. Have a look around for other methods that may renew your enth...

Re: Awareness of thoughts?

I personally find it quite amusing when I stop to pay real attention to the thoughts that go through my mind. Normally they just happen and I'm not conscious of them, however, when I practice mindfulness I am gently, and with love, observing them. It's not about scolding myself, or scoffing at the (...

Re: Using Mindfulness Everyday

Hi all, I personally find I go through waves of mindfulness. Some days it comes easily, and I might be in the flow for a while, and then days go by where I completely forget about the practice. Something will usually happen to prompt me to remember, perhaps a mini-crisis, or a message from someone. ...
