Re: difficult life situations
There is nothing "wrong" with emotion. It is a sign that your thoughts need to be observed. So do this. Observe the "why" behind your emotions. What challenges are you having with your partner in the present moment? What fears do you have? And remember it is all right to set boun...

Re: What to do with difficult thoughts in daily life?
Once you observe your thoughts, the next step is to redefine them. Ask "Why do I think this?" Try to figure out what your mind is basing this thought on. Then question whether that is an accurate basis. Remember that just because someone said it or just because it happened in the past, doe...

Re: Side effects: Sleeplessness and tinnitus
When you have difficulty sleeping, try practicing a yoga nidra technique. You can find a lot of examples on You Tube, and it should help you to relax and fall back to sleep.

It might help to focus on your purpose for meditation. If you are trying to relax and calm your mind, try lying down. If you are trying to focus on your thoughts or clear your mind, try walking or sitting in a chair.

Re: New to Mindfulness and a bit concerned
Anxiety is caused by an overactive fight-or-flight response. This has its roots in the subconscious mind. Your mind's job is to keep you safe. When sees something that even has a remote connection to the past, it sounds an "alarm." This alarm is the fight-or-flight response. And that is wh...

Re: Afraid I'm losing my mojo
My question is, are you meeting your other basic needs? Often, when we are upset, anxious, depressed, etc., we let ourselves go. We feel so harried, that something has to give, and that something is us. We skimp on sleep, nutrition, exercise, etc. Are you seeing this in your life? If so, then it is ...

Re: awareness and thoughts, your perspective
Good questions! I don't reject "negative" thoughts, because they are based on subconscious assumptions that won't go away so easily. Instead, I am curious about any thought that doesn't feel good. I ask my mind "Why do you think this?" I keep asking "why," as well as ot...

Re: i dont know if meditation can solve my problem
You are dealing with the deep-seated fears and misunderstandings that all humans must contend with. And that's comparing ourselves to others and fearing that some thing is "wrong" with us. You can't see what is in your friends' minds, but we all have doubts from time to time. And inner pea...

Re: FAO Anxiety Sufferers
Mindfulness of the body and mindfulness of thought have helped me infinitely with anxiety. First, anxiety is brought on by the fight-or-flight response, so noticing when my body is going into this reaction has helped me to take measures to minimize it. To calm my body, I do breathing exercises, yoga...

Re: problems breathing
I agree, there is no "right" way to breathe. The purpose of focusing on the breath is to bring your mind to the present moment, so that it does not wander to the past and become anxious, etc. You can do that while mouth breathing.
