Re: Mindfulness beginner, a couple of issues
Hi angstrom! Sorry to hear meditation has been such a struggle thus far. That sucks, and I imagine it's not terribly encouraging. BUT I am super inspired by your commitment to finding solutions and work arounds. That's awesome. It's not uncommon for people to experience increases in physical, mental...

Re: The body scan
Great post Peter! It is funny because I find it is a very human thing to dislike the things we probably need the most of. For example, I always HATED doing push-ups, mostly because I found them really hard to do. But, the only way to get better at them was to do more push ups! Some meditations are t...

Hello Moksha, Thanks for reaching out through the forum, it must have taken a lot for you especially given how scary it can be to put something like this out there for people to read. It really does show how committed you are to yourself, and how much you really do want change. I hope it is comforti...

How To Meditate without Trying: The Art of Non-Striving
Hi there, This is another mindfulness "attitude" I frequently get questions about so I thought I would share my latest video on how to cultivate non-striving: https://youtu.be/HqVtcqGe4wY It is a bit of a tricky concept as many of us get IN to meditation because we have certain goals for o...

Re: Online meditation partner/buddy sought
If it helps, there are great communities on the "mindfulness" or "meditation" subreddits on Reddit if you are stuck too. They might have someone there.

Re: Avoiding side effects / is it for me
Hello Marcus, Some people do notice more anxiety when they start meditating, but I find it is often because that anxiety was there and they haven't noticed it before. You seem quite aware of how you are feeling so I don't know that you'd find many surprises, especially as you start out. I agree with...

Re: difficult life situations
Hi there, I am so sorry to hear you are going through what I am sure is a very difficult time. I must say, Jon's post is great and thorough so I am not sure I can do much more except reiterate some of his points with some of my own points to add another perspective. An interesting thing about mindfu...

Re: Quick question about meditation
Wow, really interesting! I personally do not hear the breath at all, for me my focal point tends to be the place where the air touches my nostrils (noticing the coolness of the air when I inhale and the warmth of it when I exhale). If it helps, perhaps try focusing on different aspects of the breath...
