Hi Jon - I don’t believe I received a PM from you. Did I miss it?

Re: Racing thoughts in daily life

I probably didn't explain this as well as i could have but what i really meant was that during the day I'm living in my head. So rather than walking I'm thinking about walking....rather than seeing I'm thinking about seeing....rather than thinking I'm thinking about thinking. Any suggestions would b...

Racing thoughts in daily life

Hey everyone - I have been dealing with the constant monkey mind/racing thoughts for most of my life and that is part of the reason I began my mindfulness practice some time ago. I recently took about a 6 month break from meditation and noticed that my constant overthinking/over analyzing throughout...

Negative Thoughts

Hey everyone, If someone is having a large amount of negative thoughts throughout the day, is there any benefit to try to focus more on the positive thoughts you do have? Or would it be better to just notice/observe the negative thoughts? I am just curious if people think there’s a benefit to positi...

Re: Mindfulness and well, me

This is a really good story and it’s great to hear about other people’s experiences. I was first introduced to mindfulness by my doctor. Being as nice as I could, I pretty much told him he was an idiot and I didn’t believe in that kind of stuff. Well he eventually convinced me to give it a shot and ...

Re: Advice welcome

I have anxiety as well and I have noticed that I kept a lot of tension in my throat and jaw. Now I often tend to watch my breathing in this area and it has helped me relieve a lot of the tension there. Just a suggestion that has helped me out. And I’m not sure I would try to get rid of that feeling ...

Re: The Mind Illuminated by Culadasa ( John Yates PHD )

I ordered this book after reading this post and I would also strongly recommend it. He does break out the book by the various stages of where your practice is at any given time…..indicating different techniques and methods you can use to progress your practice to the next stage. His justification fo...

Re: Mindfulness and Anxiety (The rush to recover)

I have been dealing with anxiety for the last 10 years so I can relate to this. For about 5 of those years I was totally consumed by it and it basically ran my life. Pretty much the only goal I had was to figure out how to get rid of it. I was so consumed by it and completely determined to fix my an...

Re: Question about Posture

Thanks Jon, I will give it a shot. I am sort of thinking the entire meditation might just become me constantly recorrecting my position over and over though. And so that actually might end up becoming sort of the focus of my meditation. Anyway, I will give it a shot and see how it works out.
