Re: Afraid I'm losing my mojo

Geez, don't I feel like a jerk - haven't checked this thread since I asked for help... until tonight. I I think part of me was almost afraid to read the good advice because that same part of me wanted to give up and not be helped. But I have now caught up on all your very wise words. It's really hea...

Afraid I'm losing my mojo

I'm someone who has always dealt with depression and anxiety in various amounts. It is part of why I found meditation and started this practice nine and a half months ago. I have, surprisingly to even myself, been VERY diligent about practicing every day, for at least 30 minutes, but more often 40+....

Re: A newbie trying to piece it together!

Jon Kabat-Zinn says that it's like working out your mindfulness muscle, by continually returning to the present object of attention, even if briefly. Pema Chodron says that even the meditation sessions that feel like "bad" ones are, in fact, not at all - that the returning IS the practice ...

Re: A newbie trying to piece it together!

Hi Aly, As someone who is also new to all this stuff, I'll throw in a thought or two. I'm at 80-something days of daily meditations and the whole deal. And I can very much understand and relate to some of the things you're saying. Paying attention to myself and my own experiences, in a way that I ne...

Re: Woah!

Gareth - good words on expectation, thanks. I did immediately try to remind myself, after that powerful experience during that meditation, that it may not be like that again anytime soon if ever, and to practice beginner's mind and all. But, unsurprisingly, during both of my formal meditations today...

Woah!

I have just had a profound experience. It was during my nightly sitting meditation (guided by JKZ), just a few minutes ago. It was at the part at which I was focusing awareness on thoughts. Everything was going as it usually does, where I was getting caught up in some thoughts, bringing awareness ba...

Re: Yoga, etc

Thanks, again, everyone, as always, for being so open and nice and thoughtful with your responses. I think, for now, after I take at least another day off (from yoga, but not from meditating) because I'm still not feeling well, I will try to do a less strenuous version of JKZ's yoga. Before starting...

Yoga, etc

Hi everyone, It's me again. Please let me know, really, if you feel like I'm over-participating in this forum with too many questions and concerns. 1daveatatime@gmail.com. So, my question this time is in regards to the meditative yoga that I've been doing by following JKZ's MBSR course via the "...

Re: Video Testimonials

I've just watched Gareth's and Mellisa's video testimonials and found them enjoyable and inspirational, as I have found this website to be so very much in the past 5 weeks as I'm beginning my practice. Thanks!
